Confront your own bias and model how you want the children in your life to respond to others who may be different than them.

Encourage the children in your life to challenge racial stereotypes and racial bias by being kind and compassionate when interacting with people of all racial, ethnic, and cultural groups.

During this time of confusion and stress about health and safety, it is important to have an open dialogue with children. They need to know it is ok to be scared and to be able to share their innermost thoughts and feelings and questions.

I encourage you to not be afraid to be vulnerable with the children in your life and to let them know it is alright to have scary feelings and that they can talk about it with you.
